You are invited to the 4th annual Tech Education Expo on Feb. 11 at the TMCC IGT Applied Technologies Center to learn about training opportunities that lead to lucrative careers. The Tech Education Expo will feature demonstrations and information from the region's leading career and technology training organizations:
- TMCC
- Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology
- Academy for Career Education
- Sierra Nevada Job Corps Center
- Western Apprenticeship Coordinators Association
As the economy recovers, it will be more important than ever for new workers to have advanced technical skills to stand out from the competition.
- More than 70 percent of positions in the United States require more than a high school diploma but less than a bachelor's degree.
- An inadequate number of high school and college students are training in these 21st century skilled trades, creating a potential shortage in the coming years.
- Wages for entering workers with advanced skills are higher than for those without.
TMCC and the Expo participants provide the necessary training in many of these high-skill, high-wage fields including:
- Auto Repair
- Building Trades
- Computer Tech
- Culinary
- Diesel Repair
- Computer Aided Drafting
- Graphics
- Green Technologies
- Health Occupations
- HVAC
- Manufacturing
- Public Safety
- Video Production
- Welding
Faculty members have prepared demonstrations for participants to experience the types of projects completed during the training programs. Graduates from our programs will also be in attendance to talk with prospective students.
