divdivdivINCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - The main problem with International Baccalaureate is enrolling in the curriculum, particularly in the elementary and middle schools, is mandatory for all students in Incline schools' small campus environment.br /That's the message Incline resident John Eppolito said he shared during a informational meeting Thursday, March 4, at Incline Village Library, about the upcoming education reform at Incline's public schools.br /IB is a fine liberal arts program, he said in an interview this week. However, there is no choice for parents. It's either have your children attend IB programs or move, and many parents are thinking of doing just that. The school is so small and (IB) rules require all of the elementary kids and all of the middle school kids to be involved in the program. The show opened on Broadway in 1972 and closed after 3,388 shows in 1980 continuing on to become a film as well as a favorite for community, high school and middle school drama groups. divdivdivThe 2010 Scholastic Art Awards Ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, at the Nevada Museum of Art and will be open to the public. The Scholastic Art Awards is a prestigious national art competition sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists Writers. Students compete statewide and Gold Key winning art is sent on to compete nationally. The following Incline students wil be honored. Savannah Gossler received a Gold Key award for her art portfolio which will now be sent on to National Competition. And she received two separate individual Gold Key awards for individual art works that will also compete nationally. Sharon Gollery and Jordan Cronin received Silver Key awards for art portfolios. Receiving Silver Key awards for individual art works were Christian Joudon, Gina Tarantino (three individual pieces) and Kelly Young. Basic Aid training for kids

divdivdivEvery Thursday in March, the Northern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross will offer its Basic Aid Training Course for youth ages 8 to 10 at 3 p.m. at the Incline Village Recreation Center. The first class begins Thursday, March 4. This course teaches basic skills and knowledge necessary for children to identify and prevent harmful situations, be able to treat common injuries and respond in emergency situations. Racers took to the course on Friday for a 5-kilometer Classic race, which would determine their starting time and order for Saturday's 5-kilometer Freestyle race. divdivdivINCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - Two Italian art exports - both from the Abruzzo region - have been reunited in Northern Nevada.br /The Beffi Triptych, a 15th century painting produced by an anonymous student in the workshop of famous Sienese artist Taddeo di Bartolo, is on display at the Nevada Museum of Art until Saturday, April 11. br /The historically significant work of art was the first cultural item salvaged from the wreckage of a violent earthquake, which struck L'Aquila, Italy, the capital of Abruzzo, in August of 2009.br /Prior to the fall semester of 2009, Sierra Nevada College's Vice President of Development and College Relations Madylon Meiling collaborated with the National Italian American Foundation to develop a scholarship program aimed at helping students at the University of L'Aquila continue their education in the United States following the devastation of their university campus.br /Currently, 35 Italian nationals are enrolled at SNC, taking a va/div/div/div

She won the slalom against some stiff competition with two solid runs.br /On a pleasant first day of the meet Saturday, Dolan raced to the slalom win with a time of 69.9 seconds between the two runs, edging Jessie Eiting of Reed, who posted a 70.21.br /It feels great, Dolan said of the title. divdivdivINCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - The Incline boys outlasted Silver Stage 56-53 Friday night to advance to the Northern 2A League regional basketball tournament final and qualify for next week's state tournament.br /The Highlanders (23-3) will meet ROP, one of three teams to have beaten Incline, in Saturday's 2 p.m. finals at Wooster High. ROP defeated Battle Mountain 89-75 in Friday's other semifinal.br /The Incline girls lost dropped their semifinal game, 49-37, at Wooster High against Battle Mountain. They also earned the North's No. 1 seed entering the 2A state championship, while avenging their only league loss against ROP on Feb. 9.br /Incline was not to be denied Saturday. br /The Highlanders were all business from the opening tip, with bigs Josh Dykstra and Patrick Howe going to work on the boards as senior Sam Witt complimented the post play with a hot shooting hand. br /I think the key was rebounding, said Witt, who hit four 3-pointers in the first half and finished with 19 points and five rebounds. divdivdivINCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. - The Highlanders ended the regular season on a winning note Friday, routing visiting Silver Stage 55-27 on their senior farewell.br /It was a good last home game. I'm happy with it, Incline head coach Bill Devine said. Our intensity was pretty good.br /With the win Incline finished the regular season 7-3 in Northern 2A league play and 11-12 overall. br /The Highlanders will enter the Northern region tournament as a No. 3 seed, which earns them a date with second-seeded Battle Mountain (8-2) in the semifinal round of the regional tournament on Friday, Feb. 19, at Wooster High School. The winner advances to the title game, where they'll face the winner between top-seeded Pershing County (9-1) and fourth-seeded Silver Stage (4-6) on Saturday at noon.br /Teams are re-seeded for the 2A state championship tournament, which is scheduled for Feb. 26-27 at Lawlor Events Center in Reno.br /Incline split its two regular-season games against Battle Mo/div/div/div
