Just Jean: Who will be the best golfer in Incline Village?

E-mail Print

Do you have the desire to be known as the best golfer in Incline Village/Crystal Bay? Golf fore Education plans to find out just who is the best during its annual tournament this year.

The tournament is being held Saturday, June 26, and Sunday, June 27, to support a very worthwhile collaboration. The four local nonprofit organizations in the collaboration are listed below and provide many additional educational opportunities in our community.

The Incline Schools Academic Education Foundation contributes an average of $33,000 annually to its endowment fund. ISAEF also annually invests $21,000 in all three public schools in Incline for tutoring and continuing education.

The Tahoe Nevada-American Association of University Women provides advocacy, education, philanthropy and research for women and girls in our community. This organization has provided up to $23,000 per year in scholarships to Incline High School graduates. It also contributes up to $9,000 per year in grants to Arts for the Schools; Children's Cabinet Homework Help Club; Tahoe Women's Services; Math Camp for an Incline Village student at the University of Nevada, Reno; and for the Children Humane Education Program at Pet Network.

Project MANA provides nutrition education in the local schools as well as in our community. Nutritional activities are provided for preschools, caregivers and grade-school kids through its after-school Kids Can Cook program, as well as snack breaks for elementary and middle school children.

The Tahoe Children's Foundation provides a development play center as well as education for families with infants and toddlers. Families learn skills and receive practical knowledge to help at home as well as at the center. TCF has been in Incline since 2001 and has helped more than 1,000 families since that time.

By participating in the annual Golf fore Education tournament, you can help each organization continue to sponsor all of the above programs. And, just think maybe you will become the best golfer too.

Don't worry if you do not golf, I always enjoy the barbecue and silent auction. The silent auction is filled with great items with a mix of something for everyone and Diamond Peak is such a great location for the event. Learn more at golfforeeducation.com.

So who will be the best golfer — we will all know when the winner is crowned on the evening of Sunday, June 27.
