Easter egg hunts abound this year; bunny to appear at UNR egg hunt

Public egg hunts with various themes are scheduled to start this weekend and continue through Easter, April 4. Easter egg hunts and affiliated activities are being put on by churches, municipalities and businesses.

Then there's the Easter Bunny, which visits egg hunters Saturday at the University of Nevada, Reno's Manzanita Bowl. A rabbit also plans to be present next weekend at Circus Circus Reno, Damonte Ranch High School and in Incline Village.

Here are a sampling of area Easter egg hunts:

  • 10 a.m. Saturday, Manzanita Bowl at the University of Nevada, Reno. Face painting, bounce houses and the Easter bunny are planned. Egg hunt participants are asked to bring their baskets. 775-784-6762.
  • 11 a.m. Saturday, River School, 7777 White Fir St., Reno. Hunt for local eggs. 775-747-3910.
  • 11 a.m. Saturday, Incline Village Recreation Center, 980 Incline Way. This underwater egg hunt takes place in the swimming pool and includes a bounce house. 775-832-1310.
  • 4 p.m. April 2, Circus Circus Reno, 500 N. Center St. The midway will be home to the Easter Bunny, free candy, games and prize drawings. It also includes a free child ID program. 775-329-0711.
  • 9 a.m. April 3, Damonte Ranch High School, 10500 Rio Wrangler Parkway. This community egg hunt is sponsored by LifeChurch and includes prizes, refreshments, a petting zoo, crafts, face painting and pictures with the Easter Bunny. 775-852-3833.
  • 10 a.m. April 3, Comstock Park, 1650 Carat Blvd., Reno Hope Community church puts on this egg hunt. 775-284-4673.
  • 10 a.m. April 3, Oppio Park, 2355 18th St., Sparks. Games, refreshments and prizes are among activities being sponsored by Sparks Nazarene Church. 775-358-4066.
  • 10 a.m. April 3, St. John's Presbyterian Church, 1070 W. Plumb Lane, Reno. Egg hunting and fellowship are planned. 775-826-0990.
  • 10:30 a.m. April 3, Idlewild Park, 1900 Idlewild Drive, Reno. The Bridge Church puts on this egg hunt that includes games, prizes, a bounce house, face painting and candy. 775-323-7141.
  • 10:30 a.m. April 3, Sierra View Library, 4001 S. Virginia St. Following an Easter craft, an egg hunt takes place around the library. 775-827-3232.
  • 11 a.m. April 3, Incline Beach, 967 Lakeshore Blvd., Incline Village. The Easter Bunny will be on hand, and participants must bring a basket. 775-832-1310.
  • 11 a.m. April 3, Sparks United Methodist Church, 1231 Pyramid Way, Sparks. Make crafts, hear an Easter story and bring a basket.
  • 11 a.m. April 3, The Rock Church, 4950 Vista Blvd., Sparks. Children take part in egg hunts by age group. Bounce houses, face paintings, a bake sale and other activities are also planned. 775-355-7888.
  • Noon April 3, Northgate Park, 6450 Moonridge Terrace, Reno. The event includes a donation basket, "Change for Chile," which goes to earthquake victims. Face painting, prizes and hot dogs are also included. 775-747-4411.
  • Noon April 3, Reno Nazarene Church, 740 Del Monte Lane, Reno. Along with the egg hunt, there will be food and games. 775-853-2018.
  • 8:30 a.m. April 4, The Chateau, 955 Fairway Blvd., Incline Village. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for brunch and an egg hunt. Reservations suggested. 775-832-1240.
  • 10 a.m. April 4, Covenant Presbyterian Church, 6695 Mae Anne Ave., Reno. 775-746-8118.
  • 10 a.m. April 4, Lone Eagle Grille on the Lake, 111 Country Club Drive, Incline Village. Two egg hunts are planned and the Easter Bunny visits at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The event includes brunch and an arts and crafts station. 775-886-6899.
  • 11 a.m. April 4, Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, 2500 E. Second St. Children will take part in egg hunts by age group at FunQuest, Tumbletown and the laser tag area.
  • Noon April 4, Alpine Meadows Ski Resort, 2600 Alpine Meadows Road, Tahoe City. The egg hunt is in the Tiegel Terrain Park. 530-581-8374.
  • Noon April 4, Homewood Mountain Ski Resort, 5145 West Lake Boulevard, Homewood. The egg hunt is at the resort's Snow Ranger Academy. 530-525-2992.
  • Noon April 4, YMCA of the Sierra, 850 Baring Blvd., Sparks. Children will take part in egg hunts by age group. Arts and crafts, a bounce house and cookie decorating are among other activities planned. Details: 775-323-9622
