The North Tahoe Little League Minors All-Stars are set to compete in the Nevada District One All-Star Tournament in Carson City starting Thursday.
The North Tahoe All-Stars consist of players ages 9 and 10 from Incline Village, Kings Beach, Tahoe City, the West Shore and Olympic Valley. They begin play against Reno Continental at Governor's Field on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
“We have worked extremely hard in preparation for this tournament,” said North Tahoe All-Stars coach David Souza. “We welcome and encourage everyone to come out and root us on as we proudly represent North Tahoe Little League baseball.”
The Nevada District One Tournament includes 33 teams in three age divisions, from the communities of North Tahoe, Truckee, South Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno and Sparks.
Governor's Field in Carson City will host all three age divisions (9-10, 10-11, 11-12), two of which began on Wednesday. Opening ceremonies for all teams are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Unlike the recently completed Hooligan and Renegade tournaments, the district tournaments in Carson City are following a double-elimination format.
Division winners advance to the Nevada State Championship, with a chance to eventually move on to the Little League World Series. Admission is free to all games.
