Summer camps for Kids

E-mail Print

From day camps to incredible adventures at Yosemite, the summer programs for our children offer some endless opportunities.

Included are educational experiences, sports experiences, outdoor experiences and even camps to learn about baby-sitting. Children can attend day camps as well as overnight camps.

“Kids will walk away from our camps with additional knowledge,” said Charlie White, director of summer programs at the Lake Tahoe School, about his summer program. “It is exciting to see kids grow through camp experiences.”

Some new camp opportunities include performing arts camps from the Tahoe Players with ballet, cheer and acrobatics and other exciting ways for kids to have fun all summer long.

“Hip Hop Funk Creative movement is an absolute blast,” said Lily Welsch of Tahoe Players. “Musical Theater Camp is for all ages and abilities. It is sure to be a good time and bring out your child's confidence in front of their peers and on the stage.”

Speaking of summer camps, for the month of May, local businesses are collaborating with the Children's Cabinet by selling Camp Explore Donation Tags for $1 each. Camp Explore is a four-week program in June, designed for first and second grade students from low income families who are enrolled in summer school and are chosen to participate by referrals from Children's Cabinet's Homework Help Club staff.

Students from Incline Middle School are selected to mentor the younger students. Activities teach campers self-confidence, environmental awareness and team building. Tags can be purchased at the following: All About Nails, Art's Cafe, Artists of Tahoe, Blu Boutique, Century 21 McGregor Real Estate, Dress the Part(y), Handi Cleaners, Hub Brothers, Incline Cleaners, Incline Spirits and Cigars, Indu's Cafe, Lupitas, M Studio, Paddlewheel Bar, Postal Express, Potlatch, Season's, Serendipity Salon & Day Spa, Sierra Bella Luxury Salon, Sundance Salon and the Village Market.
