Six skiers from Diamond Peak Resort's ski team are headed to Mt. Bachelor in Oregon for the Junior Olympics this Thursday through Sunday.
The 13- and 14-year olds include Zane Bensing and Gavin Chen, both from Reno; Hannah Johnson and Kerrie Tonking, both from Incline Village; Julia Bjorkman who lives in Crystal Bay, Calif., and Remi Wolfe who lives in Truckee, Calif.
Fifty-two regional skiers, including the six that ski at Diamond Peak, are going to the junior olympics, according to Josee Lacasse, the ski team's head coach.
"The percentage of (junior olympians) from our team who made it shows the talent we have at Diamond Peak, and the hard work that our kids and coaches have put in this season," she said.
