OPEN: Millennium Scholarship – State of Nevada Schools
In 1999, Governor Guinn’s Millennium Scholarship initiative was enacted into law and the Millennium Scholarship trust fund to be administered by the State Treasurer. Students must graduate from a Nevada High School with a 3.25 GPA. Beginning with the Class of 2009, students must have completed the core curriculum as defined in the NSHE Governor Guinn Millennium Scholarship Policies of the Board of Regents Handbook in section 18.14.  More details are available at www.NevadaTreasurer.com.

OPEN: Nevada Biomedical Student Pipeline Program – designed to help low-income, minority or first-generation college students pursuing a career in biomedical science (i.e., nursing, doctor, medical research). Students are paid $1,200 to attend a 5-week summer workshop at TMCC.  Applicants must be legal residents. Information and applications are available online at http://www.unr.edu/inbre/pipeline/.

Feb 12, 2012-NHC Scholarship Program – The National Hispanic Caucus of School Board Members offers scholarships to students who: 1) are of Hispanic origin, 2) are eligible for high school graduation, 3) have received acceptance to an accredited post-secondary institution and plans to complete a 4-yr degree, and 4) have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.  For more info, visit http://www.nsba.org/caucus.

FEB. 14, 2012: Incline High School Scholarship Program -  Students now submit their application online by going to the school website at www.inclinehs.org.  After December 7, look for the link on the left side of the screen under “The Latest” menu and follow the instructions. Along with submitting the online application, one hardcopy with parent signature must be turned in to Marilyn McLochlin in the Career Center no later than 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday, February 14, 2012.  Applicants must be a graduating senior.  

FEB. 15, 2012: USA FUNDS/Access to Education – USA funds will award up to $3.2 million in new, renewable scholarships to students demonstrating financial need.  Up to 50% of the scholarships will target members of an ethnic-minority group or are physically disabled.  Applications will be accepted between Dec. 15, 2011 and Feb. 15, 2012 at www.usafunds.org/scholarship.

Feb. 17, 2012: The NSEA Reach for the Stars Scholarship is open to all high school seniors and to all public school employees. This program will recognize individuals whose values and personal qualities set them apart from others, who may have had to overcome significant challenges, and who may have a need for financial assistance. 4 $2500 awards (3 students 1 employee). FEB. 17, 2012 - GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship - Honoring the legacy of our nation’s 40th President, this scholarship rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education. Candidates must be nominated by an eligible community leader (such as a high school principal, elected official or executive director of a nonprofit organization) ;be recommended by an authority figure (such as a student activity advisor, community service coordinator, coach, employer, teacher, counselor or religious leader); demonstrate financial need; be a U.S. citizen. FEB. 21, 2012 - Multicultural Greek Council - Are you planning to attend the University of Nevada?  If so, here an opportunity to get a $500 scholarship for books.  You will need to do a 300-500 word essay on “What is culture to you?  And how it affects your life?”  Must have a minumum GPA of 2.5 or better. FEB. 28, 2012; NEVADA FUND All of our scholarship applications are being received via our online service. Interested students can get the links to the applications by visiting our website, nevadafund.org, and clicking on the “Receive Grants and Scholarships” link in the left menu. Most deadlines are February 28.

MARCH 1, 2012-Frank M & Gertrude R. Doyle Foundation, In Scholarship – This is a super easy scholarship to apply for with only one criteria: the applicant will graduate (GED is acceptable) from WCSD. If you are a graduating senior visit www.frankmdoyle.org for more information and to download an application. Students will need to submit their FAFSA Student Aid Report so don’t delay in submitting the FAFSA after January 1.

MAR 1, 2012: Truckee Meadows Community College Scholarship Program – Deadline for both the online application AND paper transcripts is March 1, 2012. Transcripts may be mailed, faxed or delivered in person to Truckee Meadows Community College, Financial Aid Office, 7000 Dandini Blvd., RDMT 315, Reno, NV 89512-3999. Applications without transcripts will be disqualified.  Apply

MAR 1, 2012: Western Nevada Cattlewomen Scholarship – Graduating seniors pursuing a degree directly or indirectly related to the field of agriculture, with at least a 3.5 overall GPA, may apply for these $1000 and $500 scholarships.  Applications are available in the Counseling Center.

MAR 1, 2012: Sons of Italy Western Foundation - The Grand Lodge of California, Order Sons of Italy in America, announces the availability of scholarships for graduating seniors in the Class of 2012. Scholarships are available in the following categories: Academic Awards for high school seniors and Italian Language Study Grants in Italy for high school seniors for the Summer of 2012.

MAR 9, 2012: SAMMY Award – Teachers, coaches, principals, counselors, athletic directors, parents and relatives are encouraged to nominate a senior (SENIORS ARE ENCOURAGED TO NOMINATE THEMSELVES) for the “Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year” award program.  A $7,500 college scholarship will be awarded. Applications will only be accepted online at www.bodybymilk.com

MAR 9, 2012: June Stannard Memorial Scholarship – A $1000 scholarship is available to a Nevada senior planning to pursue a hospitality, travel or tourism related degree at an accredited college or university.  For more information, email Sheree Tibbals at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. MARCH 12, 2012: Northern Nevada Chamber of Commerce/Tony Armstrong Memorial Scholarship – The minimum requirements for these $500 Scholarships are: seniors with a 2.5 GPA who have a desire to continue their education and have demonstrated financial need.  Applications are available in the Counseling Center.  Great opportunity for students who won’t qualify for the Millennium.

March 15, 2012: The Walmart Dependent Scholarship The Walmart Dependent Scholarship is a $13,000 scholarship paid out over four years. *Applicants must be dependents of Walmart or Sam’s Club associates in any U.S. division, have at least a 2.0 high school GPA and prove financial need. For more information, go to: walmartstores.com/communitygiving.  Application Period Opens January 3, 2012 and ends March 15, 2012.

MAR 23, 2012: James Lathrop/Wayne Capurro Memorial Scholarship in Wildlife Management - This scholarship seeks to provide a graduating Nevada high school senior, pursuing a career in wildlife management, with funds to support their education.  Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or better with satisfactory scores on the ACT or SAT.  The application package must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the deadline date.  Applications are available in the Counseling Center.

MAR 30, 2012: Raymond H. MAR 31, 2012: Greater Nevada Credit Union Educational Scholarship – Applicants must be a Greater Nevada member or the child, spouse, parent, or legal guardian of a Greater Nevada member.   Completed applications must be postmarked by March 30, 2012, or received at a Greater Nevada branch no later than 2:00 p.m. PDT, March 31, 2012.   Applicants will be notified of the status of their applications no later than May 31, 2012.

MAR. 31, 2012: US Bank Scholarship: U.S. Bank will be offering 40 - $1000 scholarships who will be attending a four-year college or university (must be one of the schools listed as acceptable by US Bank).  If you feel lucky, the scholarships are a random draw.  Applications are done online at www.usbank.com/scholarship

APRIL 1, 2012: North Lake Tahoe Volunteer Firefighters’ Association – The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to graduating students of Incline High School who wish to pursue an education and career related to fire service.  Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA and be a resident of Incline Village and Nevada and be a US citizen.  For application and more information, see Faith Nicole ASAP.

APRIL 2, 2012: Washoe Education Assn/ 2012 Ernie Johnson Memorial Vocational
A $1,000 scholarship awarded to a high school senior who plans on attending a two-year college or vocational school.  Applicant must be a child of a WEA or WEA-R member. Applications are available in the Counseling Center.

APRIL 2, 2012: Washoe Education Assn/ 2012 Marilyn Owen Academic
A $1,000 scholarship awarded to a high school senior who will be attending a four-year college or university. Applicant must be a child of a WEA or WEA-R member. Applications available in the Counseling Center.

APRIL 2, 2012: Washoe Education Assn/ 2012 Kathy Powell/Thelma Davila
A $1,000 scholarship awarded to a high school senior of Hispanic descent who has an interest in pursuing a career in education.  Applicant must be a child of a WEA member. Applications available in the Counseling Center. 

APRIL 2, 2012: Washoe Education Assn/2012 Lancaster Family Memorial
A $2,000 scholarship awarded to a high school senior who will be attending a four-year college or university to pursue a career in elementary education.  Applications available in the Counseling Center.

APR 10, 2012: Joshua L. Anderson Memorial – Are you a good, hardworking, ambitious student/athlete who excels in baseball or softball attending a high school in Northern Nevada?  Then you may qualify for this award of $2500.  For more information or an application, go to www.jlafoundation.org.

APR 30, 2012:  Reno High Sierra Chapter Ninety-Nines - This international organization of women pilots is offering two scholarships this year. A $2000 scholarship awarded to a female student pilot who has soloed on or before the application deadline for a private pilot license and a $3000 scholarship awarded to a female licensed pilot for an advanced rating.  For more information and to download an application, go to www.renohighsierra99s.org.
