We would like to announce our Alan G. Bain Initiative in Science or Math for Churchill County students’ scholarship, Jack and Jane Becker College scholarship, and two Zonta International scholarships. All are now live on our website! Please look over the criteria and refer any qualified students to our websites (noted below) to begin the application process.
I have also attached some information for our Northern Nevada Youth scholarship. We look forward to the opportunity of awarding many eligible and qualified students.
Alan G. Bain Initiative in Science or Math Up to $500

Criteria: The Alan G. Bain Initiative in Science or Math Award rewards students in 9-12 grade in a Churchill County, NV, high school for their achievement in science or math. Recipients will be chosen based on criteria that are primarily achievement in science or math, particularly that which is outside the usual science and/or math core curriculum, and project demonstrating initiative.

Jack & Jane Becker College Scholarship Up to $1,000

Attachments: 1) Transcript; 2) First page of most recent tax return; 3) Verification of enrollment at UNR; 4) Reference letter from UNR professor or counselor; 5) One-page essay about why you want to become a medical doctor, what your practice will focus on, and how this scholarship will help you achieve your goal.
Criteria: Applicants are qualified 4th-year students majoring in pre-med and current medical students at the University of Nevada, Reno. Students must be graduates of Nevada high schools and be current Nevada residents. Students who meet the above criteria and who demonstrate great financial need will be considered.
One award may go to a student of Native American heritage. If you are of Native American heritage, please provide proof of Tribe membership.

Zonta TMCC Re-entry Scholarship Award Amounts Vary

Attachments: 1) Transcript; 2) Verification of current enrollment by school official; 3) Two letters of recommendation from adults not related to the applicant, such as teachers, school officials, or community leaders; 4) Statement of current financial status: include all sources of income (wages, child support, spousal support, scholarships and grants, loans, etc.); 5) Brief essay stating: short term goals for 2011-12 (personal & academic) and life/career goals; 6) Essay (200 words maximum) describing yourself, your motivation, and why you are a good candidate to receive this award.
Criteria: Applicants must be registered with the TMCC Re-entry Center.
Supporting documentation not requested will not be considered. All applications and supporting information become the property of Zonta Club of Greater Reno. Zonta Club of Greater Reno has final authority over any aspect of the Awards.
