The GATE internship program is now taking applications for our spring 2012 semester openings. We place top students like you in professional workplace settings, in a wide variety of career fields. The benefits of internships are many:
• Internships help you see the value of all that academic learning you’ve been doing, in a real-world problem solving context.
• They provide a HUGE step up as far as making you really stand out when you’re applying for your top college choice, scholarship & grant awards, and jobs in your career field.
• It’s a really tough job market, so getting workplace experience is a tremendous advantage.
To participate in this program you need to:
Have a 3.0 minimum, unweighted GPA, be enrolled in at least one honors or AP course, or be certified as gifted.
In addition, you need TIME to put in 80 hours at your internship over the semester, and RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION to and from your internship site.
Last but not least, you need the ABILITY TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY because you won’t see a teacher each and every day to remind you what to do.
DEADLINE FOR SPRING SEMESTER APPLICATIONS IS JANUARY 25TH, 2012!
ATTENTION INCLINE HS STUDENTS: We will make every effort to find you an internship placement in the Incline area, because we understand that the drive to Reno can be difficult during adverse weather. Please consider that in your decision when applying to the program.
