Family Counseling Service of Northern Nevada, with support from Shoppers Square Mall, is pleased to announce the opening of Aly’s Prom Closet for the 2017 prom season, and our 16th season. The store will again be located in Shoppers Square Mall, and will be open to students from Tuesday, February 28, 2017 through Saturday, April 29, 2017. Details on the program are below:
What: Aly’s Prom Closet
Where: Shoppers Square (2nd Level)
Store Hours: Tuesdays – 4:00pm – 7:00pm
Thursdays – 4:00pm – 7:00pm
Saturdays – Noon – 4:00pm
Store Opens: February 28 – April 29, 2017

Over the past few years, our inventory of dresses has increased, while the number of shoppers has decreased, so, this year we will not be asking you to qualify the students and provide them with an Aly’s Prom Closet card. Our store will be open to any girl who is in need of assistance for prom attire. This year, we ask that if you know of students who are in need of our services, you simply refer them to our program. The student will only need to present her current high school student identification card to begin the shopping process. Each girl will receive a prom dress, shoes, jewelry and accessories at no cost to the student. For those with May proms, please remind students the last day for the store will be April 29, 2017. In order to best utilize the limited services donated to our program, additional services will be provided on a first come first served basis. We will try to assist all the girls with hairdos, but with multiple proms on one day, we may not be able to accommodate all of the girls.

Again this year, we will only be able to provide tuxedo usage to those students who are in the foster program. All of the tuxedos will be from our in house inventory, and must be returned. These students can come in during the same hours as the girls. As well, this year the purchase of prom tickets will be limited to those students in the foster program. We will have a current listing of all students in the Washoe County Foster Program, to verify these students. In an extreme circumstance of need for a tuxedo or prom ticket for a student not in the foster program, I ask that you email me directly with their information at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , and we will do our best to accommodate their needs.

Thank you for your continued support of Aly’s Prom Closet. Thanks to your referrals, we have assisted over 3,800 students in the past fifteen years! If you have any questions regarding the program please check out our FaceBook page, our website,, or call me directly, Becky Blank at 775-762-2255.

Thanks for all your help and support over the past 15 years, we couldn't have assisted over 3,800 students without all of you!
